Hi, my name is Darby. I love art of all forms; dancing, singing, music, painting…..it’s been a couple of years since any poetry has found its way out of me and acting I just sadly have not had time for, but lately I’ve been working on a Political Art Portfolio (mostly paintings). Maybe one day it will make me famous. I like to do watercolors of the places I go as well.

I studied German with minors in Medieval and Renaissance Studies and English Literature. I finished my Bachelor’s degree in December 2007 and moved back to Munich (I lived here 2005-06 too)…actually, I’m in an apartment with my boyfriend Philipp in Dachau. After going through many stages of transition, loving and hating the apartment, I think I finally feel at home. Philipp has been amazingly understanding.

I work as a tour guide at the BMW Museum, which is a job I absolutely love! I get to speak German 95% of the time, and I get museum experience. I also feel very comfortable as a tour guide…something I think I will keep up in the future.

I applied to a Master’s program in “Historische Kunst- und Bilddiskurse” (Art and Visual Culture) and I got in! YAY! I started in October of 2008 and will be doing 4 semesters until about July 2010, and you can catch up on how that is going (read my blogs)! The main purpose of this blog is actually for me to keep in contact with friends in family back at home in Reno and other places in the world.  Although I will talk about my studies, work, and thoughts, the information here is “off the record”…so there’s no real academic writing here, no bibliographies, but me thinking in typed form (with a dash of humor)!  Hope you enjoy it!
